Visit to Harrogate in November 2023
Knitting and Stitching Show: On November 16th a number of us travelled down to Harrogate to indulge our passions wondering around stand after stand of beautiful fabrics, fancy threads, an abundance of beads and a range of stunning displays exhibiting the amazing work of students, textile artists and other makers alike. A huge thank you goes to all those involved in organising the event, and to the coach driver who was fabulous, as well as to those who participated. It was a great day, with lots of shopping, chatter and even a prosecco or two!
Visit to Hexham in November 2024
In November 2024 a group of over 30 members had a lovely day out in Hexham. Whilst there we visited the beautiful Abbey and experienced the wonderful 'Threads Through Creation' installation - each tapestry telling a story, capturing moments in time, cultural influences, and the essence of creation. It was a visual narrative, a series of intricate threads that unravelled tales of craftsmanship and creativity. Afterwards members enjoyed a buffet lunch in the Abbey rooms, then enjoyed the sights and sounds of the town in the afternoon.
Visit to Kendal in May 2025
On 22nd May 29 members and guests visited Kendal. At least half of the group visited the Quaker Museum to immerse themselves in social and historical stories told through stitch. Many also visited the ‘Cool Crafting’ shop to stock up on threads, fabrics and kits, whilst others browsed around other shops and enjoyed all that the town had to offer. A good time was had by all!
